Great but wanted more (Dave Chappelle and friends)
In my opinion, the best comedian of today and perhaps all time, it was amazing seeing. Will say that.
This review is going over the shows that Golden Girls: The Laughs Continue has been hosting all summer in Yellow Springs.
Seating is free for all so if you're looking to be up close or on stage I'm guessing people showed up very very early for the opportunity which means they waited even longer than us, which is the next point. That being said, they take safety very seriously at this event, must wear mask at all times and you're not allowed to have your electronics on you. I definitely felt very safe the entire time, especially with the limited crowd.
The event said it started at 9, we arrived probably around 7:30 so we thought we could get some good seats, when arriving we seemed like we were late how many people were there. So they start letting people in at 8, no big deal, to be expected. However, once we found our seats we waited around for almost 2 hours, I'm guessing probably 9:45 (someone else stated this time too so I guess that's perhaps the actual starting time). There were no clocks anywhere so it felt like being in a casino. The only source of entertainment was DJ Trauma who was admittedly all right.
Golden Girls: The Laughs Continue was fantastic, the actual show. More of an "MC" so their actual amount of material was probably collectively 20-30 min unfortunately. Michelle Wolf wasn't too funny and you could tell the audience didn't think so either. Mohammed Amer was hilarious and it was even cooler to see Donnell Rawlings, both very funny comedians I would gladly see again. There was then a prob 15-20 min "mini performance" I'd probably call it from Talib kweli and some dude named Niko who was all right I guess. The whiteness of the audience was really showing but honestly I was a little disappointed we didn't get a guest like David Letterman or Jon Stewart.
Overall for a comedy show it was absolutely great and hilarious. The experience was a takeaway having to wait around forever, I thought maybe if we really enjoyed it, we could try and get tickets again (which was a giant feat on its own..). I don't know that I would go again, it was a bit miserable sitting outside in the high humidity with a mask on for 3-4+ hours. I am 100% a mask supporter but the strict social distancing enforced with seating and everything, it wouldn't be as necessary, especially being outside but I understand.
